Vitamin Supplements Reduce Cancer Risk
New research shows that multi-vitamins in general, and vitamin E more specifically, reduce the risk of cancer. Researchers identified 444 patients who were diagnosed with colon cancer. They were compared with 444 control subjects identified by random digit dialing. Intake of nutritional supplements was evaluated for the prior ten years. Both the daily use of multivitamins and of vitamin E in doses greater than 200 units were associated with a lower risk of colon cancer. Their results were highly significant on statistical evaluation (P=<0.001).(1) Vitamin users had a 50% reduced risk (half the risk) of colon cancer, compared to non-users.
A self-appointed spokesman for the health fraud, acting under the nom de plume, "quackbusters," at Loma Linda University has subsequently been quoted saying that unless researchers can show a 3-fold reduction in cancer that the results are not significant. How can they be so closed-minded about the benefits of vitamins and so quick to approve drug therapies?
In another article, the same authors reviewed earlier published research on that same subject.(2) They conclude that supplemental vitamins in doses much higher than are possible to receive in food (ingredients contained in a high-potency, broad-spectrum program of nutritional supplements such as Dr. Cranton's AntioxPacketsTM have been shown to significantly reduce the incidence of many different kinds of cancer, including but not limited to lung cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer and several other types of cancer.
